ICARUS used to be capped at 8 players per prospect, but RocketWerkz lifted that ceiling in the Week 54 update. We offer up to 20 slots on our ICARUS plans, though most co-op groups land somewhere between four and eight regulars in practice. Pick the slot count that fits the people who'll actually log in, not the maximum you can buy.

Open World prospects are persistent sandboxes with no time limit, which is what most casual co-op groups end up running on a dedicated server. Mission prospects are timed contracts with a hard extract deadline (miss it and you lose your gear), great for a focused session but stressful for irregular play nights. Outposts sit in the middle: persistent like Open World but smaller and structured around a specific facility.

Players need to own a DLC to join a server running that DLC's map. The base map, Olympus, ships with the free game, so any group can play there regardless of who owns what. If your group has mixed DLC ownership, run your server on Olympus and nobody gets locked out.

Yes, but not via Steam Workshop — ICARUS doesn't have one. Mods are .pak files (mostly hosted on Nexus Mods) that you drop into Icarus/Content/Paks/mods/ on the server. Every player who connects also has to have the same .pak files installed locally, otherwise the server will reject them.

That's almost always the auto-shutdown timers. ICARUS ships with ShutdownIfNotJoinedFor and ShutdownIfEmptyFor both defaulting to 300 seconds (five minutes), and they're the cause of more 'my server crashed' tickets than anything else. Set both to a high value like 86400 in ServerSettings.ini to effectively disable them. Don't set them to 0 — zero means 'shut down immediately', which is the opposite of what you want.

It depends on your group size, the map you're running, and whether you're modded. The DLC maps (Prometheus and especially Elysium) are heavier than the base Olympus map, and long-running open-world bases pile up chunk data over time. Yes. Your local prospect lives at %localappdata%\Icarus\Saved\PlayerData\\Prospects\ as a .prospect file. Copy it into your server's Saved/PlayerData/DedicatedServer/Prospects/ folder via File Manager in the control panel and it'll show up. Character progression is stored separately, so players will use their server-side character data once they connect.

ICARUS uses UDP 17777 for game traffic and UDP 27015 for the Steam query port that populates the server browser. Both UDP, both required. On LOW.MS these are configured automatically when your server is provisioned — your specific server's ports are visible on the service overview in the control panel at control.low.ms.

After RocketWerkz pushes an update, restart your server or use Steam Update in the control panel and it'll grab the latest version automatically. All connecting players have to update their game client to the matching version too — version mismatches between client and server are by far the most common cause of post-patch connection failures.
