You can connect via the Steam server browser (View > Servers > Favorites), or directly from the 7 Days to Die main menu using Connect to IP. Your server's IP and port are shown on the server dashboard in your LOW.MS control panel at control.low.ms.
The V1.0 release (July 2024) brought overhauled graphics, a new character customisation system, improved vehicles with passenger seats, more Points of Interest in world generation, the return of the Burnt Forest biome, and crossplay support between PC and console added later in the V1.x cycle.
Yes, 7DTD has excellent mod support. You can install lightweight modlets via the Mods folder, or run total overhaul mods like Darkness Falls, Undead Legacy and War3zuk. Most overhaul mods require EAC to be disabled. LOW.MS servers expose a Mod Manager with a curated catalogue of popular mods, plus full file access via File Manager and SFTP if you want to install something manually.
EAC is anti-cheat software enabled by default. Keep it enabled for public vanilla servers. Disable it if you want to run mods (most mods require EAC off). When EAC is disabled on the server, all players must also launch the game without EAC to be able to connect.
You can choose Navezgane (a hand-crafted map) or Random World Generation (RWG) which creates a unique world from a seed. RWG worlds come in sizes from 4096 to 10240 blocks. Larger worlds need more RAM. The first boot generates the world and can take 5-15 minutes depending on size.
Every 7 in-game days by default, a horde of zombies attacks your base at nightfall. You can customise the frequency, range, and zombie count in serverconfig.xml via the Configuration Files tool in your LOW.MS control panel. Proper base fortification is essential to survive.
Vanilla 7 Days to Die runs comfortably with around 8 GB of RAM. Larger world sizes, higher player counts, and overhaul mods like Darkness Falls or Undead Legacy benefit from more. If you need to upgrade your RAM after ordering, you can do so from your LOW.MS account.
Edit the serveradmin.xml file (via the Configuration Files tool in your LOW.MS control panel) and add your Steam64 ID with permission level 0. Restart the server. You can then run admin commands via the in-game console (F1), the Web Console in your LOW.MS panel, or telnet.
